Reduce Acne
Acne usually appears in the form of unsightly rashes on the face, shoulders, scalp or the back. Most of the sufferers are teenagers, and acne can cause considerable embarrassment, frustration and discomfort, depending on the severity and spread of the rashes. Acne could be due to diet, sun exposure or hormonal changes in the body, especially for teenagers.
Most over-the-counter acne treatments contain ingredients such as salicyclic acid, benzoyl peroxide, sulfur and resorcinol. Salicylic acid helps in unblocking of skin pores, while benzoyl peroxide kills the acne-causing bacteria. Sulfur and resorcinol work together to remove excess oil and dead skin cells. These remedies are available in the form of creams, liquid, gels and medicated pads, and are used to reduce acne breakouts.
Herbal remedies such as tea tree oil, licorice root, chamomile and flaxseed oil are recommended, as they can reduce acne inflammation. A common home remedy involves the use of fenugreek, which is made into a paste and applied to the skin. Other home remedies include the application of hydrogen peroxide, toothpaste or diluted alcohol.
Some natural methods to reduce acne breakouts include washing your face with raw milk, using oatmeal masks and drinking aloe vera juice or green tea without milk. For people with very severe acne problems, which cannot be treated with over-the-counter or herbal remedies, it is best to consult a dermatologist.
One of the best ways to reduce acne marks is using Vitamin E. It has healing properties which will help to reduce the unsightly appearance of scars. Vitamin E can be applied externally with lotions, creams or moisturizers, or ingested in the form of tablets.
There is unfortunately no instant or magical formula for acne which can work overnight. Besides herbal, home or over-the-counter acne remedies, it is advisable to avoid oily food and take plenty of water. It is also important to toke care of personal hygiene and limit exposure to the sun.
